In ‘Resilience Series: Haiku for Leaves’ I’ve selected leaves found in Britain that originate from warmer climes. They tell a story of adaptation and resilience. Each leaf sits in a pool of colour creating harmonies that accentuate their beauty.
My artworks are informed by a lifelong study of the emotive power of nature’s colours and a naturalist’s eye. It seems to me that we need and respond deeply to both nature and to the awe inspiring beauty in nature’s forms.
My aim is for my paintings to act as ‘portals’ into seeing connection where we once saw separations. Be it emotional experiences, the beauty of nature’s forms or the power of colour to transform our mood. In this refinding of connection, there is a resistance.

‘Resilience Series: Haiku for Leaves’ combines my aesthetic allied with beauty and my naturalist’s eye. It seems to me that we need and respond deeply to both nature and to the awe inspiring beauty in nature’s forms. This acts as a metaphor for the beauty to be found in resilience.
