Autumn is a time of breathtakingly beautiful displays of colour in trees and their radical action to survive the imminent cold. This artwork documents the seductive beauty of Autumn leaves and their sacrifice, in seven portraits of leaves that have been cast off.
Our connection with nature is primal. These portraits allow us to commune with a beauty and a life in a way that’s pre-verbal. Encounters such as this one with everyday leaves acts as a beautiful metaphor of resistance.
My artworks act as ‘portals’ into seeing what connects us and are brought together by a profound political sensibility.
